Tamika Wilson-Brito
Tamika Wilson-Brito - Exceptional talents at the tender age of nine and selected her to become a member of the prestigious ‘Little People and Teen Player’s Club’. Through this performing arts company, Tamika trained as a chorister, thespian and dancer (under the late Joseph Robinson) specializing in contemporary modern, lyrical and Afro-Caribbean based genres.
Tamika’s experience as an actor in her youth included local radio ads, TV shows and later the international film “The Wide Sargasso Sea”. Soon after migrating to Canada, Brito earned two pageant titles (Miss Jamaica-Canada and Miss Black World Canada respectfully).
Tamika re-kindled her love for Caribbean dance when she joined the Caribbean Dance Theatre in 2002. As a proud member of Dance Caribe Performing Company since 2010, Brito is thrilled to be part-taking in their 25th anniversary celebration. The now elementary school teacher facilitates a co-curricular dance company within her school ensuring that Caribbean dance styles are a part of their program.
“I would like to thank you all for supporting Dance Caribe and for helping to keep the Caribbean Culture alive!”
